Ranging from 6-11 hours, depending on depth desired. Times here are for a 6 hour 2-day clinic.

Day 1: 2 h. 20 min.

  1. Interview preparation: An introductory training aimed at preparing students for the medical school entrance interview. Topics include an introduction to the types of interviews applicants may encounter, nonverbal and verbal behaviors for success in an interview, how to manage the beginning and end of the interview, and asking questions of the interviewer (when they ask “Do you have any questions for me?). 45 min training + 10 min break

  2. Answering questions: This training focuses on answering questions within the medical entrance interview. Topics covered include prep for common questions, a formula to successfully answer behavioral questions, appropriate answers to several difficult questions common in medical school interviews, a method to manage unanticipated questions, and a review of answering ethics questions. 1h 15 min training

  3. Questions? Q&A session at the conclusion of the training. 10 min

Participants in the training will be asked to take some time to prepare and practice answers reflective of the training and to return the following day for practice sessions and an MMI training.

Day 2: 3 h. 15 min.

  1. Interview practice round: Participants will have the opportunity to play 3 roles – interviewer, interviewee, and observer in a series of 3 guided mock interviews. 1 h training + 10 min break

  2. MMI training: An in-depth coaching on MMI-style interviews. Applicants will be introduced to the MMI format and provided with tools to excel in an MMI. Training will focus on the 3 types of MMI-style interview questions. Examples, tips, and an explanation of how answers are evaluated will be provided for each type of MMI. 1 hour training+ 10 min break

  3. MMI practice round: Attendees will participate in a series of mock MMI interviews. Each round will include a guided evaluation of their answers. 45 min
